nucleophile

A species which can donate electrons during a reaction; an electron rich species.
To be nucleophilic, an atom usually must have at least one lone pair of electrons. However, electrons in C=C p bonds may also be nucleophilic.
Examples of nucleophiles are N in NH3, I in I-.
