pi (p) bond

A bond formed by the interaction of two p atomic orbitals parallel to each other.

The electrons in the C=C p bond are mainly exposed above and below the plane of the atom group, and as such are available for donation to an electron poor site (or electrophile).

product

A chemical compound present at the end, but not at the start, of a chemical reaction.

polarize

A bond between two atoms in a molecule is polarized (+ one end, - the other) when the atoms have different abilities to hold on to electrons. This ability (electronegativity) increases up and to the right of the periodic table. This a molecule such as H-Cl (H+-Cl-) is polarized since the Cl atom has a greater ability than the H atom to pull electrons to itself.
A polarized bond is a dipole and has a dipole moment.

polar molecule
A molecule which has a permanent dipole.
Such a molecule must contain bonds with a permanent dipole and must be unsymmetrical
Examples:
H-Cl (Unsymmetrical molecule and Cl more electronegative than H and so pulling electrons towards itself and away from H).
CH3F (unsymmetrical molecule - see below - and F more electronegative than C (or H)).
